MythTV Universal Plug and Play Server
Introduction
Universal_Plug_and_Play (UPnP) allows devices to access the media on your MythTV Backend, including recordings, videos and music.
UPnP Configuration
UPnP is enabled by default on your backend server, but only if you configure the backend to listen on an external IP address. If you leave it at the default 127.0.0.1, UPnP functionality will be disabled.
During instalaltion of MythTV, you are asked the question "Will other computers run MythTV?". If you answered "Yes" then UPnP should work. If you answered "No", then you may need to do the following:
- Run the MythTV Setup utility from the menu: System->Administration->MythTV Backend Setup
- Under General->Host Address Backend Setup, make sure the Local Backend IP Address is set to the real IP address of your machine, not the localhost address (127.0.0.1).
- Under General->UPnP Server Settings, make sure the UPnP media update time is set to something like 30 (0=off).
