Configuration

Once you have installed Ubuntu SE, use the following simple steps to configure it:

Desktop Wallpaper

Right-click the desktop and select “Change Desktop Background”. The new wallpaper should be available for selection.

GDM Login Theme

Select “System->Administration->Login Window”. The Satanic theme should be available as an option. Choose it if you dare.

Gnome Splash

The Gnome splash image is now installed as part of the GDM package. To use it, just run the following:

gconftool-2 --set \\
/apps/gnome-session/options/splash_image -t str \\
"/usr/share/gdm/themes/Satanic/satanic-splash.png"

Usplash Theme

This changes the image which is shown during boot-up. It should be activated as part of the the package installation, so you shouldn’t have to do anything. If you don’t like it, remove the package:

Nice, cool, fun, we need more “excentricity” like this in the Ubuntu comunity…

It could be an idea for to to write a “tutorial” for “how to produce a theme pack”, dont u think ? (sorry for my poor english >

  3. Garry Says:

Well, it was my first time with a lot of this, so I am no expert. Still, I could probably have a go at a tutorial.

I love it, but it’d be better if there were a complete theme that addressed the boring gray panels and task list at the top & bottom. Would also love to see an icon set… Wonder if there’s a way to make the desktop flames animated in Beryl…

  5. Garry Says:

Beryl will animate windows bursting into flames when you close them. It looks great.

Regarding the grey panels, try reducing their opacity so that the flames show through…

I’ve installed Beryl and emerald, I don’t get any exploding nor burning windows. Is it a separate plugin? Where does one find that?

  11. Garry Says:

Burning windows are just a config option. I’ve not got Beryl on this laptop, so I can’t tell you exactly. Have a look through the config and they should be there.

LOL not that I advocate satanism in any way shape or form but love the idea :P

BTW you access the flame feature in beryl-settings > Animation then theres options for “Minimise animation” etc the flame one is called “Burn”. You can set minimise, maximise, close all to burn if you really want…personally I prefer it on random :)

    P.S. very nice wordpress theme

    Wonderfull!

I just installed it for fun, it´s real beasty ;-) Nice one. Perhaps it`s getting more “powerfull” over time, if there are changed menus etc.

    Perfect work! Go on ;-)

    Just my 2 cents

PS: Sorry for the bad english ;-)
